At Central Mountain Middle School, we believe every student deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. Serving students in grades 5–8, CMMS is a place where curiosity is encouraged, character is developed, and every student is empowered to discover what they're capable of.

Middle school is more than a transition between elementary and high school. It's a time to build confidence, explore new interests, and develop the skills that prepare students for the future. Our dedicated staff creates meaningful learning experiences that challenge students academically while supporting their social and emotional growth.

Central Mountain Middle School stands on a proud foundation of learning, tradition, and community. Long before it became home to today’s Wildcats, this building served generations of students as Bald Eagle-Nittany High School — a place remembered by many as “BEN” and deeply connected to the history of Mill Hall and the surrounding communities.

Opened for the 1955–56 school year, Bald Eagle-Nittany High School brought together students from across the Bald Eagle and Nittany valleys, including Mill Hall, Beech Creek, Lamar Township, Porter Township, and Bald Eagle Township. For decades, the building was more than a school; it was a gathering place where students learned, competed, performed, celebrated, and built memories that remain part of our community’s story.

Today, Central Mountain Middle School carries that legacy forward. Serving students in grades 5–8, CMMS honors the history of those who came before us while creating new opportunities for the students who walk these halls now. We believe every student deserves to be known, supported, challenged, and inspired to discover what is possible.
