Course Offerings
At Central Mountain Middle School, we strive to provide every student with a well-rounded educational experience while offering opportunities to explore new interests, develop individual talents, and prepare for future success. As students progress through middle school, they are given increasing opportunities to personalize their learning through elective choices and advanced coursework.
Grade 5 & Grade 6 Scheduling
Fifth and sixth grade students follow an elementary-style schedule designed to expose every student to a wide variety of learning experiences. Rather than selecting elective courses, students rotate through each of our exploratory offerings during the school year, including:
- Art
- STEM
- Technology Education
- Physical Education & Health
- Music opportunities
- Library
This model ensures that all students experience each program while discovering new interests and developing skills across multiple subject areas.
Grade 7 & Grade 8 Scheduling
Beginning in seventh grade, students have the opportunity to personalize part of their schedule by selecting elective courses based on their interests.
During the scheduling process:
- Students review available elective options.
- Families are encouraged to discuss course selections together.
- Students submit course requests during the annual scheduling window.
- School counselors and administration build student schedules based on course requests, graduation requirements, staffing, and course availability.
* While every effort is made to honor student requests, some courses may be limited due to enrollment or scheduling conflicts.
