Grades and Academic Success
At Central Mountain Middle School, grades are an important measure of student learning and progress. We believe every student can be successful with consistent attendance, effort, and support. Throughout the school year, our teachers, counselors, and administrators work closely with students and families to monitor academic progress and provide assistance whenever challenges arise.
Monitoring Academic Progress
Families are encouraged to regularly monitor grades and assignments through the Parent PowerSchool Portal. Staying informed throughout the marking period allows students and families to address concerns early before they become larger challenges.
If a student begins struggling academically, teachers, counselors, and administrators are available to provide support and develop a plan for improvement.

CMMS uses the following grading scale for all academic courses.

Academic Eligibility
Academic success is an important part of participation in extracurricular activities.
Students who become academically ineligible may be restricted from participating in athletics and other extracurricular activities in accordance with district and PIAA eligibility guidelines.
Families are encouraged to communicate with coaches, advisors, and school staff if concerns arise regarding academic eligibility.
Wildcat Camp
Wildcat Camp provides students with an opportunity to recover credit by completing missing or incomplete coursework after the school year has ended.
Students work directly with teachers to finish required assignments and demonstrate mastery of course expectations. Wildcat Camp is designed to support students who have narrowly missed passing a course and provide one final opportunity to earn course credit.
Participation in Wildcat Camp is determined by the school based on academic performance and course requirements.
Promotion & Retention
Students are expected to successfully complete all required coursework each school year.
Students who fail two or more academic courses may be considered for retention. Promotion decisions are based on a review of each student's overall academic performance and readiness for the next grade level.
Our goal is always to provide students with the support they need to achieve success before retention becomes necessary.
