Advanced Tier PBIS

We believe all students can be successful when they have the right supports in place. Our Advanced Tier PBIS system provides additional support for students who may need more than our schoolwide Tier 1 expectations, recognition, and classroom supports.

Advanced Tier supports are designed to help students build skills, strengthen relationships, improve attendance, increase academic success, and reduce repeated behavior concerns. These supports are not meant to label students or punish them. They are designed to help students grow.

What Are Advanced Tier Supports?

Advanced Tier PBIS includes Tier 2 and Tier 3 supports for students who may benefit from more targeted or individualized assistance. These supports are based on student needs and may focus on areas such as attendance, grades, social skills, emotional regulation, peer relationships, decision-making, or behavior patterns that are interfering with school success.

The Advanced Tier team reviews student data, teacher input, parent communication, and previous supports before determining what type of intervention may be the best fit for a student.

How Students Are Referred

Students may be considered for Advanced Tier support when school staff notice ongoing concerns related to academics, attendance, behavior, social-emotional needs, or repeated office discipline referrals.

Before a student is referred to the Advanced Tier team, grade-level teams discuss concerns during student support meetings. Staff review what has already been tried, what has helped, what has not worked, and whether additional support may be needed. If concerns continue after multiple student support meetings, the team may submit a request for additional student support.

The goal of this process is to make sure students receive help early and that supports are matched to the student’s specific needs.
