CSBBH
Community and School-Based Behavioral Health
Community and School-Based Behavioral Health, often called CSBBH, is a school-connected mental health support designed to help students who may be experiencing emotional, behavioral, or social challenges that impact their success at school, at home, or in the community.
At Central Mountain Middle School, we believe students are most successful when schools, families, and community providers work together. CSBBH provides an additional layer of support for students and families who may benefit from more consistent behavioral health services during the school day and beyond.
What is CSBBH?
CSBBH is a voluntary service that connects students and families with a team of behavioral health professionals. The team works with the student, family, school staff, and other providers to identify needs, build skills, and create a plan for support.
The goal is to help students develop healthier ways to manage emotions, solve problems, build relationships, and remain engaged in school.
How CSBBH Supports Students
CSBBH may support students through services such as:
-
Individual counseling or therapy
-
Family support and family therapy
-
Group support
-
Behavior planning
-
Social skills development
-
Emotional regulation support
-
Case management
-
Crisis support
-
Collaboration with teachers, counselors, administrators, and families
Support may take place in the school, at home, or in the community depending on the student’s needs and the service plan.
Who May Benefit from CSBBH?
A student may be considered for CSBBH when emotional or behavioral concerns are interfering with their ability to be successful. These concerns may include ongoing difficulty with behavior, school engagement, peer relationships, emotional regulation, attendance, anxiety, depression, family stressors, trauma, or other mental health needs.
Family Partnership
Families are an essential part of the CSBBH process. If a student is recommended for CSBBH, the family is involved in discussions about the student’s needs, goals, and services. The CSBBH team works alongside families to create a plan that supports the student across settings.
Because CSBBH is a voluntary service, parent or guardian involvement is required before services begin.
How Students Are Connected to CSBBH
Students may be connected to CSBBH through school team discussions, the Student Assistance Program, school counseling, social work support, administrative referral, or family request.
If a student may benefit from CSBBH, the school team can help families understand the referral process and connect with the appropriate provider.
Questions?
If you have questions about CSBBH or believe your child may benefit from additional behavioral health support, please contact your child’s school counselor, the school social worker, or a building administrator.
